‘If you allow yourself to be the person you are, everything will come into rhythm‘ Donohue.
We all need a little help now and again. Life can wear us down, leave us faced with difficult challenges or feeling a little lost, unheard or not knowing which way to turn. Family and friends can be great with giving support but sometimes having a skilled, independent person to talk to is invaluable. It continues to inspire me time and time again, how having a safe and confidential ‘space’ to just talk;
- raises your awareness
- leads to new insights
- clarifies what’s going on for you
- makes it possible to explore fresh perspectives
- makes it possible for you to reflect on ways to move forward
- can lead you to making changes if you wish
You might feel nervous about asking for counselling and attending for the first time, that’s natural and most people do. I am welcoming and friendly; I will offer you a safe and confidential space to talk. A time when you will be listened to and not judged – working with you to explore the difficulties that are troubling you and support you in making changes if you wish.
At the heart of my approach, is the therapeutic relationship between the counsellor and you, this is called Person-Centred Therapy. I often integrate this with a little Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy (when exploring how the past might be impacting on the present), and sometimes relaxation techniques.
I work with people just like you, at your pace, to build a brighter future. If you feel you are experiencing difficulties in your life, would like someone to really listen to you, or feel your emotions are overwhelming – don’t struggle on alone.
